PETER BONE TO MEET WITH LOCAL FIRE FIGHTERS IN PARLIAMENT

Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden will be meeting with Wellingborough and Rushden fire fighters today (12 November 2008) when they come to lobby Parliament about fire fighter safety.

Mr Bone has continuously campaigned on behalf of local fire fighters in Parliament and in the constituency, most notably when his Listening Campaign helped to prevent Rushden Fire Station from becoming a part-time fire station.

Mr Bone says: ‘I am looking forward to meeting local fire fighters in Parliament again. They do a tremendous job to protect our community and I will give our local fire men and women all the support I can.

‘I hosted local fire fighters in Parliament back in 2005 when they came to watch my Westminster Hall debate on saving Rushden Fire Station. It will be good to meet with them to learn how the new system is working and any concerns they may have.

‘It is more important than ever that we have an enhanced fire service in Wellingborough and Rushden. Our area has been designated as a growth area by the Government and it is forcing 52,000 new homes on us in the next few years. We need more fire cover, not less.’
