PETER BONE MP HAS ROBUST EXCHANGE WITH
MANAGEMENT OF KETTERING HOSPITAL
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden had a meeting with Management members of Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust last Friday (28 November 2008) to discuss the closure of Rushden’s outpatient facilities.
During the meeting a robust exchange of views was presented from each side.
Mr Bone says: ‘Unfortunately, I have not been able to persuade the Foundation Trust to change its decision on the closure of Rushden’s outpatients facilities and the transfer of them outside of Rushden into Irthlingborough at this time.
‘I am currently writing to everyone in Rushden to make them aware of the situation and ask for their views on the closure of our outpatient facilities. Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust carried out a limited consultation on its proposals but did not make it clear in this consultation that services would be moved out of Rushden. I believe their consultation was flawed because most people in Rushden were not consulted and those that were did not know about the current proposal and certainly did not know that our outpatient facilities were going to be moved outside of Rushden.
‘In addition I will be holding a public meeting to gauge local opinion. The meeting will be held at the Pemberton Centre, H E Bates Way, Rushden on Friday 23 January 2009 at 7.30pm.’
