PETER BONE MP TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON SPEEDING IN RUSHDEN
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden will be holding a public meeting to discuss speeding motorists in Rushden at the Highfield Baptist Church, Highfield Road on Tuesday 2 December at 7.30pm.
Whitefriars, Grangeway and Boundary Avenue in Rushden have become a magnet for speeding motorists and local residents are desperate for traffic calming measures to be put in place before there is a serious accident.
Mr Bone organised a public meeting in May this year which was attended by local Councillors, Officers of Northamptonshire County Council and the Police to discuss what could be done to alleviate the problem.
At the meeting, an action group made up of local residents was formed and this group has been in continuous contact with Mr Bone and Cllr Gill Mercer.
Work is being done to try and secure traffic calming measures along the effected roads.
Mr Bone says: ‘I have organised this meeting to give local residents an update on the situation and to give people a chance to discuss what further measures need to be taken. It is important to listen to local residents on how they believe the problems of speeding traffic in the area can be resolved.
‘Local Councillors and representatives from Northamptonshire Police and the County Council will also be present to give an update.
‘I will be writing to every household in Grangeway, Whitefriars and Boundary Avenue to invite residents to attend the meeting.’
