PETER BONE MP DISCUSSES CRAZY HATS CHARITY IN COMMONS
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden brought the Crazy Hats charity up in the House of Commons at questions to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Mr Liam Byrne MP, on Wednesday 20 May 2009.
Mr Bone highlighted the charity's plans to create a drop in centre and asked for advice on funding. The drop in centre would be a haven for those who are recovering from breast cancer to go and discuss their shared experiences in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Mr Bone says: ‘The Minister said in his answer to me that the Crazy Hats Charity "is precisely the sort of thing that the Government would like to flourish"* and directed the charity in the direction of a Department for Health fund for social enterprises that is administered by Futurebuilders.
‘I am very pleased that the Minister encouraged the valuable work done by this successful local charity. I look forward to meeting the Crazy Hats founder Glennis Hooper on Tuesday 26 May at 9.00am at the Crazy Hat offices in Wellingborough to discuss how the project of a haven for people with breast cancer can be moved forward.’
