PETER BONE MP TO GO DIGITAL WITH RESIDENTS OF THE HEDGES
3pm on Tuesday 17 February
2A the Hedges, Rushden
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden will be meeting with residents of the Hedges in Rushden on Tuesday 17 February together with Cllr Andy Mercer and Cllr Derek Lawson who used the funds available to them as County Councillors to provide residents of the Hedges with free digital television boxes.
Last year, Peter Bone MP started a campaign in Parliament because the residents of the Hedges were unable to watch their television sets after the erection of two large warehouses adjacent to the properties interfered with the analogue television signal.
After a year long campaign working with Town Councillor Carol Childs and District and County Councillor Andy Mercer residents of the Hedges can finally watch their televisions again due to the kind donations from Cllrs Andy Mercer and Derek Lawson.
Mr Bone says: ‘The campaign to get proper television reception restored to the people of the Hedges went on for a long time with different organisations passing the buck. Not even a petition to Parliament could get the Government to take action on the matter.
‘However, thanks to the generosity of Cllr Andy Mercer and Cllr Derek Lawson the people of the Hedges can now watch television again because they have been given digital set top boxes.
‘I am delighted to be able to meet with residents of the Hedges to learn how life is treating them now that they are able to watch their televisions again!’
