PETER BONE MP TO PETITION PARLIAMENT AGAINST CLOSURE OF RUSHDEN OUTPATIENTS
Wednesday 11 March at 7pm
House of Commons Chamber
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden will present a petition this Wednesday (11th March 2009) in Parliament signed by thousands of Rushden constituents who are against the proposed closure of Rushden outpatient facilities.
Mr Bone will present the petition, signed by over 4,000 people who are concerned about Kettering General Hospital’s plans to close Rushden Memorial Clinic and move Rushden’s outpatient services to Irthlingborough.
Mr Bone says: ‘This is the biggest issue to occur ever since I became Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden. I am overwhelmed by the huge response to my survey which I sent out to every household in Rushden. The extraordinary response to the survey shows the amount of opposition to moving Rushden outpatient facilities from the town and into Irthlingborough.
‘I will be petitioning Parliament to urge the Secretary of State for Health to liaise with Kettering General Hospital in light of the overwhelming opposition to the hospital’s plans.
