RESULTS OF PETER BONE’S RUSHDEN OUTPATIENT SURVEY

ARE IN

Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden announced today (Friday 27 February) the results of the Rushden Outpatient facility survey which was sent out to every household in Rushden.

Mr Bone received an unprecedented response to the survey which was done to find out the views of local people regarding the proposal to close Rushden outpatient facilities and move them to the town of Irthlingborough.

Three questions were asked in the survey.

1. Do you agree that the hospital outpatient facilities at the Rushden Memorial Clinic should close and be transferred to Irthlingborough? 3742 responded. 1.1% of respondents said they agreed, 98.26% said they disagreed and 0.64 % didn’t know.

2. Do you agree that the hospital outpatient facilities at the Rushden Memorial Clinic should be closed and replaced by new, enhanced outpatient facilities elsewhere in Rushden? 3742 responded. 77.5% said they agreed. 20.2% said no and 2.3% were undecided.

3. Where should the proposed enhanced outpatient facilities be? 3150 responded. 86.06% said the Rushden Hospital site. 10.64% said elsewhere in Rushden. 0.41% said outside of Rushden. 2.89% said they didn’t know.

Mr Bone says: ‘The response to my survey has been unprecedented. I have never received so many representations from constituents on a single issue and this goes to show how important this matter is.

‘Rushden people have spoken overwhelmingly against Kettering General Hospital’s proposal to close down the outpatient facilities in Rushden and move them to the town of Irthlingborough.

‘The hospital must now listen to what the people of Rushden want and that is for their outpatient facilities to remain in Rushden.’
