PETER BONE MP TO MEET WITH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE PROBATION SERVICE
Tuesday 2 December at 2pm
Peter Bone’s Office, 21 High Street, Wellingborough, NN8 4JZ
Peter Bone, Member of Parliament for Wellingborough and Rushden will be meeting with representatives of the Northamptonshire Probation Service tomorrow (Tuesday 2 December 2008) at 2pm in his office, 21 High street, Wellingborough, NN8 4JZ.
Mr Bone is meeting with Northamptonshire Probation staff who are very concerned about the cuts to our local criminal justice system.
Nationally, we are set to lose 3,000 posts from the prison service, the probation service is facing reductions to budgets of over 20%, there are 2000 less police constables than there were two years ago and the Courts are about to lose 3,000 staff.
Mr Bone says: ‘I welcome the meeting with local probation staff to listen to their concerns about service cuts and job losses. It is important that we have a robust and fully operative criminal justice system in Northamptonshire and I am concerned about the effects substantial service cuts might have on our community.
‘I will be listening to the concerns of local Probation staff and will take up the issues they raise at the meeting with the Government.’
