BARBARA JENNEY was elected to Rushden Town Council in 2003 and to East Northants Council in 2007. She was particularly privileged to serve as Town Mayor of Rushden in 2008/09 and again in 2017/18.

Barbara has represented Hayden Ward since her election in 2003 but is now looking to represent the Pemberton Division on the new Unitary Shadow Council.  At East Northants Council, Barbara has been Chairman of the Licensing Committee for the past two years and has served on various other committees, including Planning Management and the Transformation Committee formed to aid the move to Unitary status.  Barbara served on the Waste Project Board which oversaw the procurement of a new waste contract for the District in 2018 and has continued on the Waste Liaison Board.  Barbara has supported local good causes with funding provided through the Members’ Empowerment Scheme.

Outside of her Council work, Barbara is an active member of The Rotary Club of Rushden and has chaired the Youth Services committee for the past two years.  She recently organised a Crime & Safety Awareness Day for Yr 9 students at Rushden Academy.  Barbara has been actively involved with Rushden Town Partnership since its inception working to promote the future vitality of the town.  She is also a Trustee of the Rushden Parochial Church Charities which supports people in need.

If elected, Barbara pledges to continue to support the local community and work hard to ensure an effective transition into a North Northamptonshire Unitary Council that provides the best possible outcome for local residents.
