Rupert Matthews MEP
Biography
Rupert was educated at Esher Grammar School in Thames Ditton and worked as a freelance writer and journalist. He has written over 170 books on history, ghosts, cryptozoology, UFOs, paranormal activity, guides to the UK and children's stories.
Rupert Matthews has been elected to serve the people of the East Midlands as a Member of the European Parliament until Brexit is completed.

East Midlands Region
The UK is divided into twelve regions. Each region has between three and ten MEPs and each MEP in a region represents each person living there. England is divided into 9 electoral regions. The East Midlands region comprises Derbyshire, Derby, Leicester, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Nottingham, Rutland. There are no Conservative MEPs for the East Midlands Region.
Emma McClarkin MEP
Biography
Emma was elected as MEP for the East Midlands in June 2009, making her at the age of 30, the youngest British MEP. Emma was born and brought up in Stroud, Gloucestershire and was educated at her local grammar school, Stroud Girls High School. Emma graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Law and went on to work as a Legal Clerk in a law firm. Emma was able to combine two of her passions in her last role before become an MEP, working for the Rugby Football Union as their Government Relations Executive. Outside of work Emma is a member of the British Wildlife Trust. Emma has focused her charitable efforts to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer with her family in memory of her mother who died of the disease. Emma's interests include walking, the countryside, attending music concerts and photography. She also a keen rugby follower and captained the European Parliament's Touch Rugby team! Emma also enjoys skiing and kayaking when she can, but politics is her passion and most of the time Emma is keeping up to date with current affairs or supporting Party events! Having been an activist for the Party from a young age, Emma has always been passionate about politics. After working in the Law she decided it was time to become more involved, and worked for the Party in the East Midlands Region for over six years both as Press Officer to the Conservative Party's East Midlands MEPs before being elected herself as an MEP.
