Biography Michael Tye

Councillor Michael Tye

Michael Tye

Michael became actively involved in politics in May 1997 when he was elected to Northamptonshire County Council and now represents Rushden Pemberton West Division. He decided that being a Councillor would give him the opportunity to represent the views of local communities and try to improve the quality of life and services for its residents.

He has remained a councillor since he was originally elected and has been proud and honoured to have represented Rushden residents and grateful for the support they have given him during that time. Michael has served on a number of different committees and has been a member of the Police Authority and Chief Whip for the Conservative Group. He has always made himself available and happy to deal with any issues that residents may have with their local councils. He has a keen interest in Planning matters, Highways improvements, Social Care and of course councils Finances which he is pleased to say is now moving, rapidly, in the right direction.

Michael’s main areas of interest as a councillor are to serve the interests of the residents of Rushden to the best of his ability and believes that as we move into the next phase of becoming a Unitary council, by combining the County Council with four district and borough councils, residents will benefit from having a more simplified, efficient and productive organisation, making Rushden a safer and more attractive place in which to live and work.
