Despite the poor polling of Conservatives nationally, Rushden Conservatives held off opposition from four other parties to win by-elections on 23 March 2023 to keep the Rushden South (Unitary) seat and Rushden Bates (Town Council) seat in Conservative hands.

Our successful candidates, Melanie Coleman for Rushden South (NNC) ward and King Lawal for Rushden Bates (RTC) ward, each took over 50% of the vote.

Our outstanding success stemmed from having a dedicated team of activists who covered the whole wards. Their steadfast determination together with support from neighbouring areas secured victory for the Conservative party. We now have two excellent experienced councillors ready and willing to serve the people of Rushden and North Northants.

The by-elections were due to the sad loss of Cllr David Jenney. David was a very highly regarded councillor who worked tirelessly for the local community. He was also a voluntary election agent.

Whilst we reflect in the glow of an outstanding victory, we all know the work does not stop there. We need to prepare for future elections. Please join our team of activists and/or support Rushden Branch Social Committee which will be organising social events. These give everyone an opportunity to meet socially and have some fun but also helps raise funds to meet the cost of elections.
